The name B&O typically brings to mind an image of premium audio gear. Even if part of the more consumer-friendly B&O Play line, the high-end materials & typically solid sound quality more often than not come with a steep price. At CES B&O announced it would be updating its high-end wireless headphones, the on-ear H8i and the over-ear H9i, adding some new features. Although the additions are certainly an improvement, the overall package falls short when compared to the more compelling high-end offerings from Bose, Sony and others.
Pros:
- Premium materials
- Lightweight, decently comfortable
- Clear, crisp audio
- Up to 30 hours of battery life
- USB-C charging
Cons:
- Expensive (compared to competition)
- Lacks touch controls
- Unimpressive volume
- Accompanying app offers minimal controls
Summary
The H8i on-ear headphones by B&O Play have an impressive battery life and sound good, but they would be improved significantly with a few added notches of volume.
